I personally experienced it. I’ll share my experience in this article.

How to Hang Acoustic Panels on a Wall?

Based on how temporary or permanent the treatment will be, there are many techniques to hang acoustic panels to walls. Additionally, it depends on the panel type, weight, and installation location. The audio quality, height, regularity, and space of the acoustic treatment all depend on mounting concerns, whether they are manufactured or done on your own. 

Regarding drywall and flat surfaces:

• Spray adhesive: Loctite general-purpose spray adhesive or 3M general-purpose 45
• Strong double-sided tape: Gorilla Mounting Tape or Adhesive Squares
• Longer T-shaped pins function well as pushpins.
• Command strips from 3M

Steps Mounting Acoustic Panel without Damaging Walls:

The acoustic panel can also be mounted using glue to a wooden board, thick plywood, coroplast, or white boards. The constructed panel should then be rested or hung on the wall. You can move the panel around for noise testing or bring them along when you move, saving your walls in the process. Here, we will discuss steps to hang Acoustic panels without damaging walls.

Step 1: Apply adhesive spray to the panel pieces’ backsides.

A spray adhesive can be purchased from an arts and crafts store or online. Put the bumpy side of the acoustic panels on the ground. 

Spray the foam in a back-and-forth motion on the panel backs, leaving the foam’s edges uncoated to make future cutting easier.

Step 2: With the sticky side down, press the foam against a piece of cardboard

The Command strips will adhere to the panels more readily if cardboard is adhered to the foam’s back. For 30 seconds, firmly press the foam against the cardboard.

By using cardboard, you may reuse the acoustic foam and keep your wall from getting harmed. 

Step 3: Trim away any extra cardboard that surrounds the foam. 

Do not cut through the foam itself. Cut along the cardboard’s inside edge while positioning your scissors. The foam may overlap the cardboard; this is acceptable.

Step 4: Place Command strips on the panels’ backs

Small rectangles known as “command strips” have an adhesive that can be removed with ease. Place 1 Command strip in each corner of the foam panel’s backside after removing the paper tab. 

Make sure the Command strip is secured to the cardboard by applying pressure on it for 10 seconds.

Instead of the foam, the Command strip ought to be adhered to the cardboard.

Step 5: Foam for acoustics is pressed up to the wall. 

After carefully aligning the acoustic foam panel in the corner of the space you previously marked with a pencil, remove the other paper tab to reveal the adhesive. The wall while pressing the foam’s reverse side against it.

Step 6: Completely install the last several panels. 

Repeat the procedure until you have applied a layer of acoustic foam to your wall. If necessary, keep adding more foam pieces to fill the desired space. Use an erase to remove the pencil marks you made after all the pieces have been put together.

Should I Apply Spray Adhesive to Install Acoustic Panel?

Avoid using spray adhesive to install foam on wallpaper or textured surfaces. We advise using glue to attach the acoustic foam to a plywood board or a thick piece of cardboard before mounting the constructed panels in the chosen location if you want to install acoustic foam in a space with these features.

• Make a pencil or masking tape mark on the wall where the foam panel will go.
• Use denatured or isopropyl alcohol to clean the surface of the wall. With a fresh rag or paper towel, wipe the area, then let it air dry. Avoid using ordinary cleaners because their components could weaken your relationship.
• To protect your room, set up a spraying area using newspaper, cloths, or painter’s plastic.
• For optimal adhesive efficacy when installing, keep the ambient temperature approximately 65° F.
• Apply adhesive liberally to the acoustic foam’s back. Apply glue to the mounting location as well.
• Give the adhesive 10 to 15 seconds to get sticky.
• Acoustic foam should be carefully placed against the adhesive-coated mounting point. After that, push firmly for at least 30 seconds.
• For a few days after mounting, make sure the ambient temperature is around 65° F.
